Fund on Income Tax Form Supports Lung Disease Research
from "Public Policy Update", Breathe Easy news magazine, Fall 2002/Winter 2003
The Asthma and Lung Disease Research Fund will be on the 2002 state income tax form to help fund much needed research on lung disease. Legislation (Assembly Bill 2127, Matthews, D- Tracy) creating the fund was sponsored by the American Lung Association of California.
It will be one of 10 charitable funds on the state income tax form and will benefit the American Lung Association of Californias scientific, peer- reviewed research program. Taxpayers can donate to the fund when they pay their 2002 state taxes by including it on line 61 of their income tax form.
Today there is no cure for lung diseases such as lung cancer, asthma and emphysema and it is taking a heavy toll. Nearly 100 Californians die every day from lung disease.
