Follow the Tobacco Money

from "Public Policy Update", Breathe Easy news magazine, Spring-Summer 2004)

It is no secret that tobacco companies try to influence public health policy by enriching the campaign coffers of elected officials and those seeking public office. Now Californians can follow the money thanks to an online tracking system developed by the American Lung Association of California's Center for Tobacco Policy and Organizing.

To find out if your local legislator has accepted tobacco money, visit www.californialung.org and enter your zip code where it says, "Show me the $."
