New Rule Will Reduce Diesel Emissions

from "Public Policy Update", Breathe Easy news magazine, Spring-Summer 2004)

A new rule to control toxic diesel soot and other pollution emissions from municipal garbage trucks and waste haulers was adopted by the California Air Resources Board last fall.

The American Lung Association of California testified in strong support of the rule, which requires waste haulers to clean up their fleets using the "best available control technologies" ranging from particulate filters to cleaner fuels.
