Asthma Education Reduces Hospital Visits

from "Public Policy Update", Breathe Easy news magazine, Fall 2006/Winter 2007 )

Asthma rates have been steadily rising in California over the last few decades, and sadly so have asthma deaths. The burden of asthma is reduced when children know how to manage the lung disease.

To ensure that children in California get the tools they need to control their asthma, the American Lung Association of California is supporting a bill (AB 264, Chan) that would require healthcare plans to cover outpatient pediatric asthma self-management training and education.
