ACTION ALERT
AB 1390 which would let car companies off the hook for making Zero, near-Zero, and hybrid vehicles. AB 1390 presents a false choice between the ZEV program and other worthy air programs. We need you to write letters to Assembly Members and the Assembly Appropriations committee urging them to oppose AB 1390.

I am writing to urge your opposition to AB 1390 (Firebaugh),
which would effectively dismantle the California Zero-Emission
Vehicle Program. The ZEV program is a vitally important
long-term strategy for reducing tailpipe emissions,
transforming vehicle technology and speeding progress
toward health-based air quality standards. The ZEV
program benefits all California communities because
it attacks the smog problem on a statewide basis. Reducing
vehicle emissions through the ZEV program will bring
public health benefits throughout the state. Unfortunately,
AB 1390 presents a false choice between the ZEV program
and other worthwhile programs for low-income and communities
of color.
I support the goal of increased funding for air quality
programs in disadvantaged communities with pollution
problems, but urge you not to abandon one of our most
important programs for reducing statewide vehicle emissions,
the ZEV program.
Please oppose AB 1390 (Firebaugh) that would dismantle
the California Zero Emission Vehicle Program.
Sincerely yours,
