Programs Offered

    Center for Tobacco Policy & Organizing
    The Center for Tobacco Policy & Organizing is a California Department of Health Service-funded statewide project of the American Lung Association of California. It has been designed to assist local health departments and other CDHS-funded projects in meeting policy objectives, that includes developing new tobacco control policies and strengthening ones already on the books. The Center is also a resource for information and analysis regarding: tobacco policy research, significant tobacco control bills and the tobacco control voting records of our state legislators. Other resources will include county-by-county Master Settlement Agreement expenditures, and breaking news stories as they relate to current or future tobacco control policy.

    Teens Against Tobacco Use (T.A.T.U.)
    This is a program in which young people ages 14 - 17 (grades 9 - 11) are enlisted and trained on how to educate younger children to remain tobacco-free. Participating teens benefit by becoming leaders and developing the skills and knowledge they need to effectively present information to younger children. more info

    Tobacco Education in the Schools
    School-based programs that help kids identify the social pressures and influences to smoke as well as the negative health effects of smoking. These programs teach students ways to resist smoking and how to say yes to healthy habits.

    Tobacco Merchant Education
    Educates retailers about current tobacco laws. Merchants are encouraged to make changes in the way they advertise and display tobacco products. Goals include making tobacco less enticing and less accessible to kids.
